Is your Cloud Practitioner material out of date? Check support plans, service names and the Free Tier

By Mustafa K. Al-Dori · Checked against official documents on 11 October 2026 · 6 min read

The short answer

CLF-C02 replaced CLF-C01 in September 2023, raising security from 25 to 30 per cent. Since then the support plans have been replaced, service names updated and the Free Tier changed to credits. Check that material names CLF-C02, follows the 19 task statements, teaches the current plans and states its refund policy.

A course can carry the right exam code and still teach answers the exam no longer wants.

The weights moved in 2023

CLF-C02 replaced CLF-C01 in September 2023. The four domains shifted:

Domain CLF-C01 (retired) CLF-C02 (current)
Cloud Concepts 26% 24%
Security and Compliance 25% 30%
Technology (C01) or Cloud Technology and Services (C02) 33% 34%
Billing and Pricing (C01) or Billing, Pricing, and Support (C02) 16% 12%

Security rose five points and billing fell four. Technology and security together now carry almost two thirds of the exam. A candidate who gave security a quarter of the time is short.

Three changes since 2023

The exam code has not changed since 2023, but the content around it has.

  • Support plans. The exam guide now names Basic Support, AWS Business Support+, AWS Enterprise Support and AWS Unified Operations. AWS announced these plans in December 2025. The older Developer, Business and Enterprise On-Ramp plans remain only until 1 January 2027. A question bank that lists the old plans as current answers is wrong on this topic.
  • Service names. The guide uses current names such as Amazon SageMaker AI and Amazon Quick Sight. Older material may use earlier names, so a service you know looks unfamiliar.
  • The Free Tier. New AWS accounts now receive credits under a free plan, not the older 12-month offer many courses describe.

Four material checks before you pay

  1. The product names CLF-C02, not CLF-C01.
  2. It follows the 19 task statements in the current exam guide.
  3. It teaches the current support plans, including Business Support+ and Unified Operations.
  4. The refund policy is in writing.

Look inside the lessons on support plans, not at the cover. A course that says CLF-C02 may have been recorded before the new plans.

Using imperfect material

Older material is not useless. Keep it for the service questions it still gets right, check every support-plan question against the exam guide and use the free official question set for a final check.

Language availability

The exam is offered in 12 languages, including Arabic. AWS has announced that the Italian and German versions will retire after 31 December 2026. If you plan to use either, sit the exam on or before 31 December 2026, and confirm the exact cut-off on the AWS page.

Where the old answers hide

Support plans sit in the smallest domain, Billing, Pricing, and Support (12 per cent), but outdated material does most damage there. Spend one session on the four current plan names and what each is for, then redo any practice question that used the old ones.

Re-plan in five steps

  1. Download the current exam guide from the AWS documentation site.
  2. Rate yourself from 1 to 5 on each of the 19 task statements.
  3. Move hours into security if you gave it about a quarter of your time.
  4. Correct every note on support plans, using the four plan names above.
  5. Swap questions with old service names for questions with current ones.

Before you buy anything new, do the first step. The guide is the first check.
